Title: Potential of digital games for learning Speaker: Prof. Maja Pivec Start: 02:08:38 Length: 49:14 n this talk we will present potential of digital games for learning in formal and informal settings. On the case of Serious Game Design Summer School (http://summerschool.engagelearning.eu/ ) we will outline a role-play of a game design company as a successful form of interdisciplinary and problem based learning for young creative people to acquire game design, programming, marketing and entrepreneurial skills. We will present results from the ongoing project Serious Sports (www.serious-sports.org), where we carried out thorough assessment of sport related games, and how these games have value and possible application for sports and fitness. The research work was applied on assessing 32 commercial off the shelf games and 5 main game peripherals with regard to their usage. The underlying developed research methodologies and listed research results form a theoretical framework for the analysis of sports-related concepts and practices in digital games and simulations and their integration into sports science and physical education pedagogy.
