Ziel von History of Programming ist es mehr Perspektive zu geben warum wir so programmieren wie wir heute programmieren. Von Structured Programming über Object Orientation hin auch zu Themen wie den Browser Wars. Also nicht nur Technik sondern auch das Soziale, die Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft außen rum. Danach werden noch ein paar offene Probleme angesprochen wie z.B. steigende Komplexität auch wenn entsprechende Probleme nicht komplexer geworden sind.
